Places To Stay: During a family road trip, it is always nice to end the day being able to relax a bit. No matter what famous sights we saw, I could always count on my kids to get really excited about one thing – the hotel! Finding hotels that have a little extra room can be a challenge, especially with teenagers or larger families. Here are some places scattered around the country that we have personally visited that offer a few extra amenities or something special to offer, in addition to being a clean place to lay your head for the night. View the the list of our favorites around the U.S. Enjoy!
National Parks: There are over 412 areas designated within the National Park System. Some of our favorites are Bryce Canyon, Utah, Acadia National Park in Maine, and Kings Canyon in California. For trip ideas and resources related to our wonderful National Park System, check out our National Parks page. The National Park Website also has details on all the different areas including national parks, lakeshores, monuments, battlefields and much more. Be sure to get your National Park passport stamped along the way.
Eating on the Road: One of the best parts of traveling around the country has to be trying all the different foods. Whether its crab cakes in Maryland, lobster in Maine or Mexican food in the southwest, it can be overwhelming to know where to start looking for great restaurants. It’s always nice to get recommendations from friends or local hotels, but they tend to be the “on the beaten path” places that everyone goes to (not that there is anything wrong with these restaurants, but sometimes it is fun to venture out into the local culture).
