About familyTravelsUSA

I started familyTravelsUSA after taking several family road trips with my husband and three kids (now all young adults). After spending hours gathering information and creating itineraries, I decided it would be exciting to share what I learned as a way to inspire others to explore new destinations around the U.S. There is truly something for everyone, with mountains to hike, beautiful beaches to enjoy, local cuisine to savor, cities to explore, and lands and culture preserved in our national parks and public lands for all to enjoy.

Over the years, we have visited more than two dozen national parks, plus countless smaller national park units. Each has something unique to offer; Bryce Canyon and Kenai Fjords top the list! Together, we have experienced road trips in different regions of the U.S. and explored cities of all sizes. For me personally, after many years of anticipation, I finally made it to my bucket list destinations of Alaska and Hawaii. One trip is never enough, and now I can’t wait to return!

We constantly look for the best local foods, family-friendly attractions, and outdoor adventures to share with readers. As a lifelong resident of the DC suburbs, I love that there is always something new to see. Discover all our
insider tips and resources for visitors to the Nation's Capital and what not to miss in Virginia from the mountains to the ocean.

Follow along as we transition to more empty-nest, long weekends, and van adventures, and our kids explore the world through their travels. Together, we will continue to share our experiences and travel tips. Although this blog focuses on U.S. travel, there is a big world out there, and traveling is one of the best ways to broaden your perspective (as we were reminded on our recent trip to Portugal). We hope that our stories will inspire you to get out there and explore, both in the U.S. and abroad for years to come.
